The Best 34 Stories You Might Have Missed In 2017

I’m compiling my holiday reading list – what’s on yours?

Wait, wait … how did Hanukkah and Christmas come around so quickly again? Whichever way I look at it, though, it’s the last week before the CavaCom Copywriters team of wordsmiths goes on a two-week break.

But if you are anything like us, for at least most of December, you’ve been knee-deep in tying up the last bits of loose ends before the work-year is out (and might already have started to celebrate with the first bit of tinsel here and there).

I Hate Missing Out on Reading

So, chances are, there wasn’t a lot of time for reading for pleasure or learning in the past few weeks, whether at home or at your office. The books on my nightstand and coffee table are piling up at the moment, and my inbox is full of newsletters-to-be-read and my desk full of the hot-off-the-press books our talented new authors have so kindly sent in.

Neglecting the pleasure of reading: that makes me rather cranky and sad!

Reading Begets Writing … Writing Begets Writing

I’m fascinated by the diversity of thought and experience we all have. By the creativity, variety and colour we can find in the written word. Be it in practical instruction or in the flamboyant descriptions in a novel.

As a result, I gobble up all kinds of writing, And a lot of what I read will ignite ideas that fire up my own personal and business writing. Your comments and engagement with our blog – be it with my articles or those of my team – in turn inspire and encourage us to continue to think, explore, read and write widely.

The Best Stories You Might Have Missed In 2017

What I started doing over the weekend, is to create a holiday reading list for myself – of all the books I want to read, all the blogs and newsletter I want to revisit and explore; for pure pleasure, for inspiration and for learning.

It will take me a little while yet.

In the meantime, I have collated for you our most commented on, social-media-shared and read blog posts of the past 12 months. Thank you for all your encouraging and thought-provoking feedback and thoughts. You rock!

You will find a bit of everything in these posts: from the obligatory copywriting expertise (hey, we are wordsmiths!), via social media ideas and nifty tips for aspiring book authors, to me baring my soul (every business owner needs a good mental-health-restoring moment every now and again).

So here they are, in no particular order – enjoy!

I can’t wait for the holiday break. I’ve got a stack of books that I’m hoping to get through, but I’m going to be conservative and hope that I’ll have time enough (in between turkey comas) to finish two books:

Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov (3rd time reading this absolute masterpiece)
    and either
Raptor: A Journey Through Birds by James MacDonald Lockhart
    or
The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt

Give me a few hours by the fire, a warm cuppa, and a great book for just a few hours and I’ll consider the holiday time well spent.
